Prolific eight-time Grammy award-winning producer and drummer Gregg Field tracked two projects at United Recording that earned two 2019 Grammy nominations, including, “Standards” by Seal for Best Traditional Pop Album and “All About That Basie” by the Count Basie Orchestra for Best Large Ensemble Album.

Working alongside producer Nick Patrick and recording engineer Don Murray, Field served as drummer on Seal’s groundbreaking album, which tracked songs in United Recording’s Studio B and recorded vocals in Studio A. The album, marking Seal’s return to the music scene, combined his unique voice with some of the greatest jazz cuts and swing classics ever written. “Standards” is currently available on Republic Records.

For the critically-acclaimed album, “All About That Basie,” a gathering of legendary artists came together to join the Count Basie Orchestra to celebrate iconic musical influences through the years. Field once again worked with Murray at United Recording as producer and drummer on the album.

As a former Basie drummer, Field noted that the Basie sound is prevalent within the album. “Basie’s band throughout the years was able to successfully cover hits of the era with their sound, and as part of the new album we have continued that tradition including hits from legends like Stevie Wonder and Leonard Cohen, as well artists as contemporary as Adele,” said Field. “All About That Basie” is available on Concord Jazz.

The 61st Annual Grammy Awards are scheduled to take place on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019 in Los Angeles.
